“The church is God saying: I’m throwing a banquet, and all these mismatched, messed-up people are invited. Here, have some wine.” -Rachel Held Evans

After twenty-six years of living and serving in Milwaukee, I am launching a spiritual community called THE TABLE: a 1st century style community in the 21st century.

The Table…where we see one other, clearly, and fully enter into the other’s humanity.

The Table…where we more deeply explore God’s word, and the meaning of The Gospel in our lives.

The Table…where we are nourished through the sharing of food, the celebrating of stories, the cultivating of our imaginations, the reclaiming of rituals, and the partaking of The Christ Meal.

The Table…where we peel off some of the layers of the modern church, and embrace the intimacy of being Jesus followers in a “1st Century Style Community in the 21st Century.”

We will gather at THE TABLE on Wednesday evenings, at The Body and Soul Healing Arts Center, beginning in December.

As we start this journey together, we will bring to THE TABLE the heartfelt writings of Rachel Held Evans in her book SEARCHING FOR SUNDAY. Please purchase the book, if you are able. A dozen copies will also be available for sharing.

Zakiya Courtney will be our cook for the month of December, offering her healthy vegetarian soul cuisine. We will also share a holiday potluck and a Kwanzaa Karamu, feast!
