I actually have waited a few days, just to make that the numbers were accurate, but I am happy to let you know that we did in fact receive more in synod benevolence in 2015 than we did in 2014.
We received an increase of $1040 over the previous year, which in terms of dollars and cents doesn’t seem like much at all. However, in a time when many congregational budgets are stretched and stressed, it makes a huge statement about our willingness to be church together. It reverses almost a decade of declining income.
Let me assure you again that it is not a matter of simply building the synod coffers. It is instead a way of allowing us through the synod budget to support ministries around the world and close to home.
As we approach a synod assembly which will involve the election of a new bishop, I can think of no better beginning than to know that the congregations of the Greater Milwaukee Synod are in this work together.
Thank you for your faithfulness and sacrifice. Blessings to you all as you further the proclamation of the Gospel in the places where you are planted.
