Embracing Stewardship

Stewardship Fair Brings in Expertise for You!

As times change and the world becomes more and more competitive, people can and do connect with all sorts of other individuals and organizations. Sometimes these are groups just down the street. Sometimes these are organizations half way around the world. How does the church stay relevant and visible to people in this changing environment?

In addition, trends across the country show that congregations are tending to age (the average Lutheran is about 60 in a country where the average age is 34). Millenials are the least churched generation in American history. How can the church invite younger people to participate and support the work of the church in ways that bring joy and life?

On February 10-11, our synod will be hosting Charles “Chick” Lane and Grace Duddy Pomroy for ways that will engage both of these and much more. Chick Lane brings decades of experience in helping congregations do stewardship well and helps them to be sure that as they carry on God’s mission in their place, they also have the resources to do it effectively. Grace Duddy Pomroy brings generational awareness and ways to engage people across all generations to want to be part of supporting God’s work through the church.

Chick and Grace have authored the excellent book, Embracing Stewardship. Participants in this workshop will each get a copy of the book to take home with them. It deals with eight ways to make stewardship come to life in your ministry. In a workshop designed for both lay leaders and pastors, they will walk us through things that will help your leadership really engage the people who participate in your congregation. This is a high quality event with great practical fruit – you and others will want to be there!

The event will be hosted by Grace Lutheran Church in Grafton, WI. Friday, February 10 starts with registration at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and the program from 6 to 8 p.m. Bishop Erickson will lead devotions and our presenters will share the first part of their program with us. Saturday, February 11 begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. and the program going from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday are included, as is the Embracing Stewardship book and the entire program.

At just $45 for the entire event, this is a can’t lose deal sponsored by the Greater Milwaukee Synod to help you and the leaders where you are succeed at what you do.
