The Youth and Family (YF) Ministry Coordinator plays a key role in building lasting faith-based relationships with children and young people at Norway Lutheran Church. As part of an overall team, with leadership from Pastors and guidance from the Church Council, Education Action Committee and Youth Action Committee, the YF Coordinator is responsible for developing, delivering, and administering various programs within the children’s, youth, and family ministry areas. These include Jesus and Me (JAM) Sunday School Program, Confirmation, Youth Group, summer trips, family activities, community events, and service projects.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support and guide the work of the Pastors, Church Council, Education Action and Youth Action Committees to plan, develop and implement current and new YF Ministry programs.
  • Coordinate curriculum and events for JAM (3K-12th grade), Confirmation (7th-8th grade) and Youth Group (6th-8th grade and 9th-12th grade).
  • Oversee program logistics, including supply orders, trips, and guest presenters.
  • Establish open communication and positive relationships with parents and guardians.
  • Recruit and train volunteers for all aspects of YF programming, ensuring adequate volunteer support and fulfilling assignments.
  • Model relationship-building skills in all interactions and responds to member and community inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the identification of new partnerships and resources for programming and support.
  • Develop and monitor YF Ministry budget, in collaboration with Pastors, to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Support fundraising and marketing efforts for YF programs and Norway Lutheran.
  • Maintain all records of participation in YF programs.
  • Support and guide the work of the Pastors, Church Council, Education Action and Youth Action Committees in annual process of evaluating the vision and goals of the Youth and Family Ministry.
  • Collaborate with other Norway Lutheran staff and committees on programs and special projects.
  • Participate in Norway Lutheran staff meetings and retreats.




Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry, Education, Early Childhood Education, or related human services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • Experience with program development and evaluation is required.
  • Two or more years of work experience working with PK-12th youth is preferred.
  • Experience with teaching and curriculum development is preferred.
  • Supervision experience preferred.

  • Able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated skills relevant to developing learning activities, such as creativity, flexibility, and an understanding of planning for different ages, interests, and abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate staff, build team cohesion, and hold others accountable to expectations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
  • Proficiency in MS Office or Google Suite and general computer/technology skills.
  • Commitment to Norway Lutheran Church’s mission and program philosophies.



  • Must have current certification in CPR/First Aid for children and youth (or be willing to become certified.)
  • Criminal background checks and child abuse clearances are required.
