Getting the Message Out is a one-day event on Saturday, October 6 to explore effective communication in our congregations. Scott Vaughan, our leader for the day, has served the strategic communication needs of North American churches and faith organizations for more than 25 years. He has served churches of all sizes and in all community sizes. Scott is a professional public speaker, combining straightforward thinking, story-telling, humor and common sense to help church leaders better understand communication in today’s culture. Scott will lead us through three conversations:

–Understanding People: How to Reach Those Who May Think Differently about Church
–The Changing Winds of Communication: Embracing Change or Drifting Behind
–Every Member a Greeter: How to be Ready When People Get the Message and Show Up

Getting the Message Out is for leaders, staff, and communicators of all kinds who want to grow their capacity to connect with people inside and outside of their congregation.
If three or more members of your congregation wish to attend, register your congregation together and pay one flat rate.  See registration form for more details!

Scott Vaughan is President of Scott Vaughan Communications since 2003. Before entering vocational ministry in 1994, Scott was a newspaper editor and publisher in both small communities and big cities. He served as director of marketing for the South Carolina Baptist Convention until 2003 when he began his consulting firm to serve churches beyond Baptist life and beyond the South. Scott has served the ELCA through synod-sponsored events, senior pastor training, and first call conferences. He has also directly served several congregations from Washington, DC to Sacramento, CA.  Scott comes to us by recommendation of one of our synod pastors who learned from Scott when he served as a presenter at Senior Pastor Training. Scott and his wife Vicki have been married 32 years and have four grown sons. They currently lead a growing, weekly Bible Study for Millennials.
