Fall Leadership Conference
October 12-14, 2020
We will not meet this year in person, but we invite you to enjoy this time together with colleagues and leaders across the synod. We will meet on the Zoom platform as we welcome our keynote speaker: Susan Beaumont, author of How To Lead When You Don’t Know Where You’re Going: Leading in a Liminal Season. In this season of life and ministry when we do not know exactly where we are going as the Church, this topic is even more relevant than we knew when we invited her to be with us. Participants are invited, but not required to read her book prior to the event.
Our preacher for worship on Monday morning is the Rev. Lamont Wells, ELCA Program Director, Campus Ministry (LuMin Network) and the National President African Descent Lutheran Association.
Though this is an annual synod event, feel free to share news of this event with people beyond the synod who might be interested in participating.
The event fee is $50.
Registration closes on October 8, 2020.

Notes of encouragement:
Time for Rest– We hope this can be a time for rest from the many pressures and stresses of the past months. Even though we cannot gather in person, we encourage our leaders to set aside this time without the intrusion of the day-to-day ministry tasks. Give yourself permission to step away and let your council leaders know that this is time away that is expected for Rostered Ministers per our annual compensation guidelines.
Step away, if possible – The cost of this conference is low because we are not paying for facilities, food, and lodging. Perhaps consider using what your congregation has budgeted and apply it to a hotel or Airbnb away from home. Lutherdale also has a beautiful new lodge with hotel style rooms, wifi, and an area to prepare your food. If it would be helpful, the synod is glad to send a letter of encouragement to congregational leaders in support of this option. Please request such a letter from Jennifer Arnold at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Wellness Dollars Grant – Please remember that Rostered Ministers may apply for an annual $100 Wellness Grant. This can be used toward Fall Leadership Conference or for any other activity or resource that encourages your wellness. Here is a link to the Wellness Grant Request:
