TEAM TRAINING: The workshop goal is to provide team members with the information, skills and resources to initiate, plan and implement a congregational addiction team ministry. This is the second workshop in a series of three trainings Teams members receive two ministry guides. As a result of this training, participants will be better able to: 1) Demonstrate team functioning; 2) Understand the five congregational ministry areas; 3) Initiate an educational process within their congregation; 4) Identify and start to work with community resources; 5) Develop an initial action plan; and 6) Utilize evaluation tools in measuring effectiveness
WHAT DOES A FAITH PARTNERS TEAM DO? Team activities fall into the general areas of awareness, education and recovery support. Teams often start with a few simple activities. These efforts grow in relationship to the size, experience, creativity and commitment of team members and the congregation. Often teams broaden their focus from substance use disorders to other addictions to other behavioral health issues as the need or expertise presents itself.
BUILD YOUR CONGREGATIONAL TEAM IN FOUR STEPS: Faith Partners provides a thoughtful four-step process to develop an effective, sustainable ministry to address the needs of the whole congregation. An informed clergy supported by committed and trained congregational members can offer hope, help and healing through prevention, early intervention, referral assistance, recovery support and advocacy.
