Lutheran Campus Ministry’s
Inaugural Chili Cook-Off & Fundraiser
So you think you’ve got the chili to beat? Prove it! Check out the FAQ, then sign up to take down the competition!
Where and when is this awesome chili cook-off that I need to attend?
The Lutheran Campus Ministry Inaugural Chili Cook-Off and Fundraiser is the place to be on Saturday, January 30, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the Muellner Building at Hart Park in Wauwatosa
Is there any cost to participate?
There’s no cost to enter the chili competition for our inaugural cook-off. Congregations are asked to cover the cost of making the chili. Also, we are suggesting that each person who attends make a donation of $25 to Lutheran Campus Ministry. This is a fundraiser, after all.
How do I choose who makes the chili from my congregation?
Think strategically. It’s not just about the best cook, but about who can rally the troops in your congregation to come, vote for your chili, and win! We have some fabulous prizes you are not going to want to miss out on. Not to mention, your congregation gets the title of “Chili Champion” for an entire year, and a discounted entry fee to defend your chili against the competition in next year’s cook-off.
How are winners chosen?
Each person who attends the chili cook-off and fundraiser will receive an arm’s length of tickets they can use to vote. Each congregation’s chili table will have a voting jar, and voters will drop their ticket(s) in your jar if they think your chili outshines the competition.
Votes will be tallied by Lutheran Campus Ministry Board members, and the winner will be announced during the award ceremony at 8:30 p.m.
(Hint: The more supporters you can get from your congregation to attend and vote for your chili, the better your chances at winning and taking home awesome awards!)
What responsibilities do we have at the event?
You will be responsible for serving your chili in sample cups to attendees. You are also responsible for keeping the chili hot (outlets are provided), a ladle for serving, and the containers and serving utensils for any accoutrements you are providing.
You should plan on arriving at the venue at 6:00 p.m. to set up. More details will be provided once your registration is confirmed.
What does Lutheran Campus Ministry provide?
We are providing cups for beverages, eating utensils, napkins, sample serving bowls, tickets for voting, and voting jars.
What are these awesome awards I keep reading about?
In addition to the highly esteemed title of Chili Champion for a whole year, the winning congregation will receive an embroidered apron that you can proudly display in your fellowship hall or other gathering space, and the soon-to-be-coveted Chili Champion traveling trophy.
You will also receive discounted entry into the Chili cook-off next year so you can defend your title and try to keep the trophy for another year!
