Position Purpose: This role is to provide spiritual, faith and community leadership to the membership of Lake Park Lutheran Church. To learn more about us please view www.LakeParkLutheran.com .  This role can be clergy or a non-clergy faith leader and will serve as the person to empower individuals within the congregation to participate in groups and activities that create meaningful faith experiences.  As a part of this role this person will help lead worship 1-2 times a month, facilitate and empower small group participation and leadership, connect members to external partners and play a key role in youth and family faith education. 

Supervision: This person will serve under the supervision of the Pastor in partnership with the Personnel Team.

Responsibilities: Subject to review and adjustment in conjunction with the Pastor, the following constitute the major responsibilities of the Ministry Empowerment Lead:

Worship

  • To regularly (generally 1 or 2 times a month) preach and teach the Word of God in worship to the congregation.
  • To help plan and lead in in conjunction with the pastor of the congregation, Music Leadership, and Worship Leadership.
  • To help work with the Music Leadership to develop and maintain a music program for all ages and to integrate music into worship and other areas of the congregation.

    Congregation Membership Empowerment
  • To facilitate, encourage and guide the congregational spiritual growth as a body and as individuals through meaningful faith experiences with internal small groups and external partners.
  • To help develop and empower key leaders, especially those from traditionally marginalized communities, within the congregation to lead small groups in a Christian manner.
  • To help align people with activities and groups that empower and energize them with a special focus on Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

    Education
  • To oversee the administration and management of all areas of the congregation’s ministry in youth and adult education consultation with the Church Council and appropriate boards, committees, staff and pastor.
  • To support and assist the Mission Staff (Pastor(s)) and staff who have primary responsibility in the ministries of education, youth, social justice, pastoral care, fellowship, health, and older adults.
  • To support, supervise, manage and evaluate, in conjunction with Personnel Team and Church Council, the non-ordained staff of the congregation.
    • Participate in the screening and hiring of non-ordained staff and calling of ordained staff.
    • To build a sense of teamwork among church staff and hold regular staff meetings to coordinate the ministries of the church and facilitate communication. 

      Outreach
  • To help ensure a welcoming environment for new members entering into the life of the congregation in conjunction with the boards, teams, committees and organizations of the congregation.
  • To encourage all organizations and ministries of the church to carry out their work with an emphasis on welcoming others to participate in the mission work of Christ.
  • To play a key role in representing Lake Park with our external ministry and social justice partners in the larger community.

    General Faith Responsibilities
  • To provide Christian care by assisting the Missional Staff and in conjunction with other staff, boards committees, and member caregivers through visitation, counseling, and prayer.
  • To make appropriate referrals when necessary and quickly respond to crisis situations which arise in the congregation.
  • To play a key role in assisting the Small Groups Missional Leader in teaching children, youth, and adults in the Christian education program of the congregation.
  • To serve as the primary staff representative to the following:
  • Youth Education and Activity Teams.
  • Adult Education and Activity Teams.
  • Social Justice Teams including Transforming Our Church.
  • Teams focused on External Mission Partners.
  • To serve as a staff representative to the following:
  • Church Council.
  • To work with the Stewardship Board to promote, educate, and advocate responsible biblical stewardship in the congregation.
  • To assist the Church Council and Business Management Leadership with financial matters of the congregation.

Requirements

  • A 4 Year or Higher College Degree is highly preferred, but relevant experience will be considered for exceptional candidates.
  • Experience successfully leading/guiding small groups in a faith context.
  • Extensive Experience and Comfort with Public Speaking.
    • It is Preferrable at least some of this will be in a faith environment.
    • Exceptional candidates will have experience preaching.
  • Experience with leading structured Youth Education
    • Exceptional candidates will also have adult education experience.
  • Strong Written Communication skills.
  • Strong Organizational Skills.
  • Strong persuasive communication skills.
  • Proficient with digital communication and organizational tools.
  • At least 2-3 years in professional / office / education environments.
  • Experience with developing team leaders and empowering participants in volunteer groups.
  • To be able to demonstrate a track record that includes a commitment to DEI Efforts and Goals.
