Advancement Associate (Lutheran Campus Ministry, Milwaukee)

Advancement Associate – 20hrs/week, $20-25/hour (negotiable based on experience), remote or hybrid work available

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Data Management & Administration:
    • Assist in building and maintaining alumni database.
    • Maintain an accurate donor database (Airtable/Bloomerang).
    • Ensure accurate documentation of contributions to LCM in Greater Milwaukee, include “thank yous” and tax acknowledgements.
    • Support pastor and board in fostering donor relationships via robust communications and data management, with an emphasis on long-term and legacy giving relationships and church partnerships.
    • Assist pastor in administrative tasks relating to routine and special grant applications and reports.
  • Marketing & Communications:
    • Collaborate with pastor and board of directors to create and implement strategies for advancement and development of LCM.
    • Create and distribute regular stakeholder communications in collaboration with pastor.
    • Draft digital and print materials for promotion directed at current and potential stakeholders and ministry partners.
    • Draft digital and print materials for local church use to raise awareness of campus ministry among families with future college students.
    • Support pastor and board in executing future awareness and fundraising campaigns.
    • Support pastor and board in executing regular in-person stakeholder events and fundraisers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in non-profit development, fundraising, marketing, and/or communications: 1-2 years preferred, relevant internships and volunteer work will be considered experience with a reference. 
    • Familiarity with Bloomerang, Airtable, or another donor management system is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field; or, equivalent experience in non-profit communications or development.
  • Strong computer literacy: able to use Gmail, Zoom, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.) social media, and other digital technology without outside guidance.
  • Ability to design clear, informative, and visually appealing materials on Canva or another design platform.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; emphasis on writing, editing, and proofreading promotional copy and longer-form narrative content for promotions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to both collaboratively and independently manage tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • A desire to support the ecumenical, inclusive, Jesus-centered mission of The Corner House.
  • Familiarity with the ELCA, the Episcopal Church, or another similar Christian tradition preferred, but not required.
  • Alumni hiring policy: Corner House alumni who graduated in 2021 or earlier are welcome to apply.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The majority of this role may be done remotely. Expect an average of 1-3 in-person meetings per month.
  • A company-owned laptop will be provided; necessary software licenses and additional tools may be covered as needed. An in-person, shared workspace at our campus ministry center can be provided if desired.

  • The Advancement Associate will report directly to the Pastor and the chair of the Board of Directors of LCM in Greater Milwaukee.
