Election Resources

As Lutheran Christians, we engage civic life as part of our baptismal vocation to follow Jesus Christ in our daily lives. Our participation in initiatives such as Faith in Us is informed by the scripturally grounded moral discernment reflected in the ELCA social statement, Faith and Civic Life: Seeking the Well-being of All. Supporting free, fair, and trusted elections is not partisan alignment or an endorsement of political parties or candidates. It is one expression of our calling to follow Jesus by seeking truth, loving our neighbors, practicing responsible citizenship, and working for the common good. We are called for such a time as this.  We are called to love our neighbors, to stand up for them, to stand up and speak up for our rights together.  We are living in a moment where free and fair elections, and our democracy itself, are under unprecedented threat.  Loving our neighbors now means protecting our democracy together.
