Rev. Lisa L. Nelson (she/her)

I’ve been a pastor in the South-Central Synod of Wisconsin since 1993 and became a certified coach in 2021. Coaching combines two joys of mine: Working one on one or in small groups and diving deep into practical, relational, and spiritual matters. I thoroughly enjoy working with people who want to explore their spiritual lives, no matter what their age, vocation, or religious identity.

As a pastor, I have been full and part time, solo and associate, in rural, small-town, and urban congregations, and on synod staff. I am steeped in the dynamics ministry leaders encounter and the cultural shifts that affect us all. I have worked on the synod’s Faithful Innovations team and for Awaken Dane.

I also coach people who are grieving. In 2018, my mother died unexpectedly at age 79, and in 2022, my brother died of suicide. Grief is a painful yet sacred experience that benefits from being shared with another.

After co-raising three neurodivergent sons, I began coaching people who are neurodivergent or live or work with someone who is. Neurodivergence refers to how some brains work differently than others. Neurodivergent folks bring unique gifts to whatever they do, and we need people whose brains work differently now more than ever!

I believe everyone has the wisdom they need to navigate life’s challenges and, as a coach, I create space for people to explore these challenges and discern the activity of God in their lives.
