Rostered ministry is both exciting and challenging. Many leaders have found support to be a valuable resource as they grow into their call and navigate the complex realities of congregational and community life.
To support innovation and leadership across our Synod, funds from the Equipping the Saints Mission Appeal have been allocated to provide support for active rostered ministers. We are grateful for your leadership and look forward to walking with you in this season of ministry!
Coaching provides a trusted space to process, reflect, and discern. It can help you strengthen your leadership, nurture resilience and sustain your call as you grow into the ministry to which you have been called. Learn more about our coaching program and coaches.
Reimbursement can be requested for sessions with a licensed counselor or therapist. If you need assistance in finding a licensed therapist we have listed a few options below. You are also welcome to contact the synod office for more information.
Spiritual direction is an ongoing, confidential conversation where one person (the “directee”) meets with an experienced guide (the “spiritual director”) to notice how God or the sacred is active in their daily life, prayer, and heart. The focus is not on problem-solving or giving advice, but on deepening a personal relationship with God.
Local networks like Milwaukee Spiritual Directors provide regional directories to help connect seekers with local companions. Programs like the Ignatian Retreat in Daily Life are also hosted via local parishes like Gesu Parish.
Siena Retreat Center (Racine): Offers ongoing individual spiritual direction and directed retreats on a sliding scale, alongside a comprehensive Siena Retreat Center Spiritual Guidance Training Program
Sabbatical leaves are granted to provide an opportunity for the minister to take an extended period of time for renewal, enrichment, study, spiritual growth, travel, skill development, research, and/or experimentation. The Synod Council has approved a sample sabbatical policy for congregations that is included in the Compensation Guidelines. Grants of up to $1,000 may be available to support Rostered Ministers who are taking a sabbatical.
All rostered ministers in the Greater Milwaukee Synod are eligible for up to $1,000 total in reimbursement for coaching, counseling, spiritual direction, or sabbatical support.
If you are a rostered minister in the Greater Milwaukee Synod and have been ordained less than five years, you are eligible for up to $1,200 total in reimbursement for coaching, counseling, or spiritual direction support.
