In 1990, Brenda Doxtator, an elder in the Milwaukee Indigenous community, was part of a group who “wanted to combine the Lutheran church and Indigenous ceremonies.” From that vision, Lutheran Church of the Great Spirit was planted in Milwaukee. (Story by Living Lutheran.)
